Finally decided to make a proper reference for my Yasuyuki clan. All that I had for a long time was this:  Yasuyuki Clan Refrence by Glueckskatze But the information underneath this is now OUTDATED! It only counts the information underneath:

Clan Data:

Clan politics:

The clan has a very high stand within the village and many members of the clan are officials and working directly for the Tsuchikage. Already Shiroku Yasuyuki was a confidant of the first Tsuchikage Ishikawa. But due to their modest personality, the Yasuyuki always stayed in the back of their Tsuchikage and never searched for the spotlight. Shiroku could have been the second Tsuchikage, but he rejected so Mu would get the position.
The clan had a very open politics for some time and allowed its members to marry whoever they'd like. But after some time the Kekkei Genkai of the clan started to die out. 40 years before Naruto was born Harogo Yasuyuki, current leader to the clan, decided to change the politics of the clan to save it. He forbade the marriage out of the clan and into the clan. He implemented the tradition that families keep living in the same house and that the oldest child of a family stays with its parents while the younger child moves to its spouses house. He also urged his fellow clan members to have at least two children so that the number of members would at least stagnate over the time. Due to the constant inbreeding many male children in those years were born with haemophilia so that they weren't able to become Shinobi. So about the last 50 years the women of the clan grew stronger and the ratio between women and men shifted to 57% women and 43% men. So the last clan leader changed the marriage politics of the clan 20 years ago. He signed a contract with the befriended Gyosha clan from the outskirts of Iwagakure. Now only children with the Kekkei Genkai are forced to marry within the clan. Children without the Kekkei Genkai are urged to marry a member of the Suiton-using Gyosha clan.

Clan alliance:
Ever since the foundation of the hidden villages the Yasuyuki have been loyal to Iwagakure and especially to the Tsuchikage. The clan has a marriage contract with the Gyosha clan, a fishermen clan living on the outskirts of Iwagakure. They have a strong affinity for water release techniques but usually are no Shinobi. They share the tradition of a family house and the oldest child staying with its parents, making the marriages between the clan easyer. When a member of the Yasuyuki clan marries out of its clan and into the Gyosha clan, their clan tattoo is removed with a special technique. All that remains is a light scar, that doesn't tan with the rest of the skin. So the former Yasuyuki member are still recognised as such. On the other hand, when a Gyosha member marries into the Yasuyuki clan he or she gets a small clan tattoo somewhere on their body. The tattoo is way smaller that that of a born member so that they will always be recognised as in-laws. The clan also has some strong bond with the Kamizuru clan. They usually work together in a team even if their skills tend to contradict each other (insects can't fly if it's too cold). Since the Kamizuru clan is also related to the bloodline of the Tsuchikage the Yasuyuki were their comrades ever since the foundation of the hidden stone.

Clan whereabouts:
The clan has a nice quarter within the down town of Iwagakure. Their quarter consists of about 20 houses, but not all of them are inhabited. They also have a huge shrine within their quarter, were they pray for the souls of their decreased. Within their quarter they also have some shops (a fish shop, a pet shop, a hairdresser and a sushi restaurant), that are mostly led by in married Gyosha or Yasuyuki with haemophilia. Additionally they have a building for their own pre-academy were children between four and six/seven are trained by a mentor that is able to use the clans Kekkei Genkai. A little behind their quarter you can find a huge fish pond were the clan breeds their special fish. Some are only ornamental fish like koi or goldfish and some are fish that are eat able like salmon. Additionally to the great public pond every housing tends to have it's own little pond in the backyard were every family breeds a special and unique line of koi.

Traits:

  • Their original hair colour was pure white and their eyes always were of a light blue. Shiroku and his five children had those traits in common with the progenitor of the clan Daikan Yasuyuki. But the grandchildren of Shiroku already began to have those traits faded. Today the hair of Yasyuki varies in all possible light colours from pure white to a middle or dirty blonde. Other colours can be grey, light blue or green and strawberry blonde to sandy colours. You can say, the lighter the hair, the purer their bloodline. Eye colours vary between blue and green in all shades. Only few members have different eye colours, for example the grandchildren of the current leader have brown eyes due to their mother's genes. As for their skin colour, there isn't much variation. All members have a light peach coloured skin. Women tend to have rosy cheeks while males tend to be more pale. Members with haemophilia usually have reddened joints (neck, elbow, hips, knees, ankles).
  • Members of the Yasuyuki clan usually are very tall in growth, and they grow very fast from a young age on. Children are mostly ten centimetres taller than the average. Females tend to stop growing aged about 16 when they reach a heigh of 1,80 m. Males tend to be even 15 cm taller and grow until they are 18. While being very tall, they do not have much muscles and don't relay on their taijutsu skills. Due to being very tall, they usually aren't flexible enough to be good at hand to hand combat. Some members are good swordsmen, where they benefit from their height.
  • The clan usually relays on their Ninjutsu skills. The clan has it's own Kekkei Genkai, that allows them to control the temperature and such to produce ice. As stated above they usually aren't good at Taijutsu but some are good at Kenjutsu. Genjutsu aren't really taught within the clan, but some members know how to use some (from their teachers of friends). Almost all members are able to release Genjutsu and to realize they are caught in one (the clansmen usually are pretty intelligent, so Genjutsu aren't their worst enemy). But all in all the clan relates mostly on Ninjutsu even those that are born without the Kekkei Genkai. They fight mostly with water release techniques, some also can use wind release techniques.
  • As stated above, their usual chakra natures are Suiton and Futon. Some of the members (about 1/3) to use the clan's Kekkei Genkai, allowing them to change the temperature of molecules around them, making them capable of using ice techniques. Other natures usually don't exist within the clan. Only those that are descendants of other clans can have other chakra natures (for example Kawasemi has a grandson that can use Raiton). Some very skilled members are also able to learn other natures like earth release but this uses much training and time.

Clan history:

Clan Legend:
The legend says that a young man called Daikan, son to a Suiton-user and a Futon-user, was the first person in the world to be able to combine those natures into Hyoton. The villagers feared and avoided the young man and he decided to leave his parents village and go on a long journey. On this journey he came into a huge snow storm and maybe he would have died. But something strange happened to Daikan: Suddenly his vision changed and he could see all the particles surrounding him. He was able to survive the snow storm because he suddenly could adjust his body temperature and the temperature of the air surrounding him. After this experience he was able to control this ability and could use it also in the other direction (cool something down). He called his special eyes Toketsugan. After some years of travelling after the legend he met a woman and had twin sons with her: Shiroku and Kuroshi. Kuroshi is said to have had the features of his mother, black hair and eyes. He didn't awake the Toketsugan but could use Hyoton and is said to be the founder of Kirigakures Yuki-clan. Shiroku inherited his father's traits, white hair and light blue eyes. He did inherit the Toketsugan and is ranked as the Yasuyuki clan's founder.

What is sure is that Shiroku Yasuyuki was a follower of Ishikawa who would become the first Tsuchikage. He fought on Ishikawa's side during the Warring States Period and was his right hand man. Ten years younger than the Tsuchikage, he wanted Shiroku to be his successor as Kage, but Shiroku refused. All he asked for was that his five children would get good positions within the village. Shiroku was married two times, his first wife died giving birth to their second child. All of his children had inherited his physical traits and his chakra natures as well as the Toketsugan. They only had to endure huge colds and would awake the Dojutsu. The children grew into adults and all became good Shinobi and were respected by almost all of Iwagakure's inhabitants. Over the generations the descendants of Shiroku stopped having his feature, abilities and even the elements water and wind. Only few children were born with the Kekkei Genkai. So, 40 years before Naruto's birth, the head of the now huge clan decided to stop allowing marriages in other families. In the next years more children with the Kekkei Genkai were born again, but with the Kekkei Genkai a disease spread within the clan. More and more children were born with haemophilia and weren't able to work as Shinobi. As this disease mostly inflicts boys, the girls of the clan started to grow superior to the boys. Following to this, new laws within the clan were raised: Only those born with the Kekkei Genkai were still forced to marry and other clansmen. Those born without the Toketsugan had to marry a member of the befriended Gyosha clan, with whom the clan leader signed a contract. Finally the disease stopped spreading.

Clan traditions:

The Yasuyuki clan, is a clan of hard-working, mostly serious and level-headed individuals. They usually put the well-being of the clan over their personal one. Laziness, lateness, dreaminess and aimlessness are seen as flaws and are to be eradicated by the person's parents, grandparents, siblings and teachers. They are also very modest and don't seek the applause of the masses.
The most important entity for clan members is their own family. It is tradition, that several generations live under one roof and bring up the children together. Most families have at least two children. While the oldest child stays at its parents house and moves his spouse in with him, the younger children move in with their spouse and live together with the latter's family. It its very rare that newly wedded move into their own house, it only happens with third or above children marrying a third or above child. They then found a new housing and a new lineage.
A notable tradition within the clan is also the breeding of fish, especially kois. There is a huge pond at the outskirts of the Yasuyuki quarter as well as small ponds in every backyard of the clans housings. They feel bound with their fish and they are sometimes even used as maintainers within fights over a Kuchiyose contract.

Marriage is a sensitive, yet important topic within the clan. Until some years ago, members were forbidden to marry out of the clan or to bring non clan members into the clan. But then the huge problem with haemophilia appeared and now the marriages of the clan members are determined by the council of the elders. The council of the elders consists of the oldest member of each housing and can either be male or female, as males and females are coequal within the clan. On the other hand, the oldest member of the council, so the oldest clan member in total, is the current leader to the clan. This post has been hold by Kawasemi Yasuyuki for nine years at the beginning of the series. So the council of the elders choose a fitting partner for every child of the clan when the latter reaches its sixth birthday. Most of the children are married to children of the befriended Gyosha clan. Children that have awakened the Kekkei Genkai of the clan are married to members of their own clan, preferably to such that also got it. It is very rare for a child to be married to someone out of those two clans. There are exceptions after all, and those usually occur to make pacts with other clans or even other nations (There are examples that children are married to Kamizuru clan members. The children of the current clan leader are married to Kumogakure ninja on the other hand.). It's rated as treason to not marry the chosen partner and those members usually are exiled from it. On the other hand, it is an open secret, that a high amount of clan members are attracted by their own sex. Homosexuality is tolerated in the youth of the respective individual as long as they go with the strict family politics of their clan, marry the right person and have at least two children. It is known, that some members even lead a homosexual relationship far after their marriage. Noone sees a real problem in it, as long as they keep in line with the clan's rules. Divorces aren't accepted within the clan so spouses usually stay together until their death, even if they are never truly in love. The only possibility to marry somebody else is the death of your partner. When for example a woman looses her husband, she is allowed to stay at the housing she lives in (even if it's not her parental house) and marry whoever she likes. Widows and widower with only one child are even encouraged to marry a second time (of course a appropriate mourning time is granted). So there are examples were a non-Yasuyuki or a non-Gyosha lives with the family of its spouse. They are rare but they exist. (This opportunity surely implies that there could be unhappily married members that tried or succeed to get rid of the unloved husband/wife so the real loved of their life can be married... Let's just say, that no one ever really did it, but it COULD be possible.)

The members of the Yasuyuki clan prefer to wear traditional Japanese clothings. They usually wear Yukata-styled clothes, belly bands, Kimonos, Gis, sometimes armours and clothes. Few members are seen to actually wear the uniform of Iwagakure, and if they only wear the flack jacket. They usually wear the colours blue, grey, brown and red in all possible shades. Sometimes a tint of green is seen. Other colours aren't liked to be seen by the elders. Only children up to academy age are allowed to wear what ever they want in all shades of the rainbow.

An interesting tradition of the clan is, that every member of the clan has a circled snowflake tattooed somewhere on his or her body. There are different sizes with different meanings of the tattoo:
The smallest ones are around 5 cm in diameter and are put on in laws from other clans. They are put on their body several weeks before the wedding day and is usually displayed during the wedding (via showing it out of the dresses).
The second one is around 10 cm in diameter and are put on those members that haven't inherited the clan's Kekkei Genkai. Those members are called the lower members. They apparently have the same rights as those with the Kekkei Genkai but in fact they are seen inferior. The tattoo is added to their body the day of their graduation as a Genin.
The last one is around 20 cm in diameter and are only put on those members that have awakened the clan's Dojutsu Kekkei Genkai. Those members are called the higher members and think of themselves as superior to the other members. As for the lower members, they are tattooed the day of ther graduation.
The only member without a clan tattoo are those that suffer from haemophilia as it would be too dangerous for them.
Those that marry out of the clan, get their tattoo removed shortly before their marriage. This procedure leaves a light scar on their skin that won't tan with the rest of their skin. So former members are still recognised as such.
Those that are banned from the clan for doing something forbidden, get their tattoos cut out of their skin. This is a very brutal action, that scars the person for the rest of his life.

Clan symbol:
There isn't one set clan symbol, but every housing has it's own symbol that they wear on their clothing and as tattoo. They all have in common, that they depict a snow flake, most have six jags, some can have eight too, that are put into a circle. The symbols boast above the entry of each of the 20 houses so there are 20 different symbols. As ornaments on clothings they symbols usually are simplified. They only are depicted in detail on the building itself and on the tattoos.

Kekkei Genkai:

Toketsugan (literally 'the freezing eye')

Toketsugan by Glueckskatze
The Toketsugan (Colour of the rhombuses do vary)

The freezing eye 'Toketsugan' is a Dojutsu only found on members of the Yasuyuki clan. It is shown as a dark blue eye with six rhombuses in the original eyecolour of the user in it. The Toketsugan is also known as the Hyoshogan (ice cristal eye) by members of different countries. Both expressions are irritating, as they imply the Kekkei Genkai can only reduce temperature, but in fact the eye allows its owner to reduce or increase the temperature around them.
The Toketsugan is a Dojutsu technique, that allows its owner to see all the molecules surrounding him/her. The more experienced the user is, the father he/she can see the molecules. When the Toketsugan is awakened, the young Yasuyuki is able to see the molecules around 1,5 m around them. An experienced user is able to see them even 500 m away. Additionally to this ability, the user is able to change the temperature of each molecule he can see. Thanks to this, they are able to transform water into ice or vapour. It is true, that members of the Yasuyuki clan prefer the cold. Their trademark techniques revolve around ice techniques. But you can't say they own the Hyouton, in fact they only use Suiton techniques and 'transform' them into ice techniques (So their ice release doesn't work like Haku's. There has to be water first.). There are very few members that heat the water up to be vapour, but some are known to work with this techniques too. It is presumed that the affinity to the cold and to ice techniques goes back to the founder of the clan's father, that is also the ancestor of Kirigakure's Yuki clan and has been able to use both: Hyouton and the Toketsugan.
The Toketsugan is first activated, when the owner is put under climatic stress, meaning extreme colds or heats. They then activate their Kekkei Genkai and regulate the temperature of they body and surroundings to a pleasant one to survive. Most of the children pass out after activating it for the first time, as it uses a lot of energy. Nowadays the children of the clan are sent to a pre-academy from the age of four to the age of six. The key task of this academy is to awaken the Kekkei Genkai in the children. They are put under climatic stresses repeatedly until they finally react the way their teacher wants. Most kids never activate it, but they still have to endure the procedure. This gives some of the children a lifelong phobia and makes them fearful.
A huge disadvantage of this Dojutsu is, that it uses a lot of Chakra to activate it. When it is activated, it doesn't use that much any more yet it puts the body under extreme stress. It is also very Chakra consuming to manipulate the temperature of molecules and thus younger Shinobi of the clan are only able to manipulate small pieces of water or air. An other disadvantage of the Kekkei Genkai is, that the normal vision is disturbed while the Dojutsu is activated. You can describe the vision of a Toketsugan user with that of an thermal imaging camera. Thus it is possible to oversee an opponent, when he blends with a similar hot area.

Some common techniques are:
  • Wind release: Knifing blow technique: A technique used by those that own a Futon-affinity. The user cools down the temperature of air, he's going to use for his following attack to about 0 °C. Then he attacks the opponent with a might gust. Due to the speed the air reaches, the temperature feels even colder for the opponent and feels like struck with 1000 needles.
  • Water release: Bitter cold technique: A technique used by those that own a Suiton-affinity. The user cools down the temperature of water, he's going to use for his following attack to about 3 °C. Then he attacks the opponent and wraps his body with the cold water. This attack can be life threatening when it covers more than half of the body for more than a few minutes.
  • Frozen blood technique: An advanced technique only used by very experienced users of the Kekkei Genkai. It is very difficult to perform and uses extreme good chakra control. It allows the user to kill his opponent with cooling down his blood to a point where he freezes from within. A progression of this technique is the forbidden Frozen puppet technique.
  • Water release: Rotating ice star: When using this technique, the user forms little Shuriken made of frozen water and leads them to the opponent with chakra. Variations of this technique are Water release: Ice wheel technique, where one big Shuriken made off ice is thrown at the opponent and Water release: Cold needle techniques, where the user produces Senbon out off ice instead of Shuriken.
  • Wind release: Cutting cold: This is a technique where the user produces small ice crystals out of the water in the air and blows them at the opponent with a might gust. It leaves the opponent scratched.
  • Surviving: This is the name given to the automatic mechanism that activates when a Kekkei Genkai owner is put under climatic stress, so extreme colds or heats. The body autonomously acclimates to the surroundings and the surroundings to the body so that the individual is able to survive. It isn't a real Jutsu, as it can't be activated at will with the usage of finger signs, but it is an important mechanism within the clan members.
  • Water release: Heal: This is a special medical Ninjutsu performed within the Yasuyuki clan. The user utilizes a special Chakra soaked water to heal mostly bleeding injuries. There is also a special water that can be used to extract poisons out of open wounds.

There is also a forbidden technique:
  • Frozen puppet technique: This technique is a progression of the Frozen blood technique. After killing his opponent with this technique the user utilizes the dead body to work for him. While the body is frozen, the user is able to control it at the users will. And shortly after the death of a person, their Chakra still flows, so they are still able to perform some Ninjutsu. Thus the Dojutsu owner has the full control over the dead's abilities. This technique was forbidden long ago, as it contradicts the attitude of moral felt by the clan.

Trivia:

  • As Yasuyuki is the romanisation of and(silence and snow), it is assumed that Daikan adapted this last name after finding out about his abilities.
  • A notable leisure time activity is ice skating. The nice thing about it is that Kekkei Genkai users don't need to wait for weeks of cold weather to do it. They can only let the water under their feet freeze. This requires that they are able to walk on water using Chakra though.
  • Members of the clan are very spiritual and believe in ghosts and an after life. They usually spent several hours of the week at the Yasuyuki shrine in the middle of their quarter.

Important note:
I got inspired simply by the last name I gave my OC Takumi. I thought it would be nice making him a member of a great clan, where he didn't really fit into. So I basically made the clan standards just the opposite of what Takumi is like.

Been working on this ever since september, and now it's finally done! From now on, the Yasuyuki-clan is an open OC clan, everyon can feel free to create one! There are two members missing, that where adpted over a year ago, but I haven't heard about them any more... :c Now the information about the clan is more thought out and complete! I May be changed over time though. But then I'll notify you! <3

Okay, sorry but can I make two more OCs for the clan? xD This is figuratively speaking though, since the mother will be exiled from Yasuyuki and hence neither her nor her daughter will be considered members :)
